Leftist lecturer and people's historian Howard Zinn turns the tables on Tinseltown in his latest spoken-word release, recorded at the Taos Talking Film Festival a couple of years ago.

His thesis: That Hollywood deliberately portrays history from the perspective of the pro-military, pro-business, pro-government establishment.

His pitch: A slate of flicks from the working-class, average-joe viewpoint.

And on this hour-long disc, he outlines several possible storylines -- long-ignored tales of wartime rebellion, grassroots uprisings and labour struggles when the downtrodden got tired of being betrayed, sold out and oppressed by greedhead politicians and tycoons. Not surprisingly, it's somewhat Americacentric, but still makes for fascinating, thought-provoking listening.

One word of advice: Don't wait for the movie.
